This was tonight's sunset.  The colors held for just a moment then faded.  I'm lucky!  I have a west facing window.  Each time one of these comes along, I grab my camera, race into the street, and start taking photos.  It's given me a deep respect for the Master Painter.  I've also put some of these up on nevadasdesertlegends.com

Snowy Night

This is a picture of a snowplow outside of my house, not this winter, but, the winter of 1937.  (A few years before my time!)  My mother took it.  It was during an epic winter for our desert.  The worst in 60 years according to her.  Seeing the news reports today about another epic storm, the one hitting the north east as I'm typing this, I thought I'd put this in both my blog and my website.  What's interesting about this one, is that the snow plow was originally pulled by horses.  It's being hauled by a caterpillar tractor in this photo.  They understood about making do, back in the 1930s.

Historic Photos!

I've started doing weekly short pieces on historic photos for the Humboldt Sun.  Sort of fun.  Keeps me out of trouble and prevents any serious housework from being done!

Feb. Fire!

The desert skies give us the most amazing colors!  Just don't give them for very long.  I was complaining about iPhoto to Apple, again, and this started happening.  So, telephone in one hand, camera in the other!  Did get some decent photos.  The photo gods were probably rolling around the heavens clutching their sides and laughing!
